Why this guide exists
In 2026, almost every digital agency in Indonesia has added "GEO" or "AI Search Optimization" to its services page. Most have not changed what they actually do. They run keyword research, build pages, chase backlinks — the same SEO playbook with a new label.
A real GEO program is structurally different. It tracks brand visibility across multiple AI engines, builds entity authority that AI engines recognize, formats content for AI extraction, and runs citation outreach in sources that AI engines trust. Without those layers, you're paying for SEO work under a newer name.
Below: the seven criteria we'd use to evaluate any GEO agency in Indonesia, including ourselves.
The seven criteria for choosing a GEO agency in Indonesia
1. Multi-engine tracking, not single-engine reporting
A GEO agency that only reports on Google AI Overview is an SEO agency. AI engines diverge meaningfully — ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Google AI Overview, and Bing Copilot return different answers for identical prompts. A real GEO partner tracks all six, weekly, with clear Share of Voice and citation rate metrics for each.
2. In-region prompts in Bahasa and English
AI engines return different answers from different locales and languages. A US-based agency running prompts from a US server cannot tell you what AI says about your brand to an Indonesian user. Insist on Indonesian-IP tracking and bilingual prompt sets covering both English and Bahasa Indonesia.
3. Methodology for entity work
Entity authority is the single biggest lever in GEO. A serious agency has a documented process for: Wikidata creation and maintenance, Google Knowledge Panel claiming, Crunchbase profile setup, LinkedIn Company optimization, and structured data deployment (Organization, ProfessionalService, FAQPage, HowTo schema at minimum).
Ask: "How would you build my entity authority?" A vague answer is a red flag.
4. Honest measurement language
No honest agency promises that ChatGPT will cite you for a specific prompt. The mechanism is probabilistic — even Google can't guarantee organic rankings, and AI engines are even less deterministic. A real GEO agency commits to measuring citation rate, Share of Voice, recommendation rate, sentiment, and prompt coverage — and shows month-over-month improvement on those metrics.
If an agency guarantees specific outputs in AI answers, be cautious — it isn't a promise anyone can keep honestly, and the tactics behind such guarantees often risk a penalty.
5. Indonesian or SEA case studies
GEO in Indonesia is materially different from GEO in the US. Source weighting, language coverage, regional publications (DailySocial, Marketeers, SWA, Tech in Asia, Detik, Kompas), and competitive dynamics are all local. Demand case studies in your region.
6. Integration with SEO, not replacement
AI engines pull from indexed web content. Strong technical SEO is GEO's foundation. An agency that treats GEO as a replacement for SEO is selling you the upper floors of a building with no ground floor. Look for partners who explicitly position GEO as the layer that runs on top of healthy SEO.
7. Transparent reporting and re-audit cadence
A real GEO program includes:
- Weekly multi-engine tracking with clear Share of Voice metrics.
- Monthly strategy sessions reviewing prompt coverage and citation movement.
- Quarterly deep audits resetting prompt sets and competitive analysis.
- Open methodology — you should understand how the numbers are produced.
Red flags to walk away from
- Guarantees of specific AI citations — impossible to deliver honestly.
- Single-engine reporting — usually means rebranded SEO.
- No mention of entity work — Wikidata, Knowledge Panel, Crunchbase are foundational.
- US-only prompt tracking — useless for Indonesian visibility.
- Black-box methodology — if they won't explain how they measure, they probably aren't measuring.
- Cheap fixed-price "GEO packages" — entity authority and citation outreach are labor-intensive; rock-bottom pricing usually means nothing real is happening.
The GEO agencies operating in Indonesia (2026)
For brands comparing options, here are the digital agencies in Indonesia publicly offering Generative Engine Optimization or AI Search Optimization in 2026. Disclosure: this list is published by Epilog Creative and includes us, judged by the same public, verifiable criteria as everyone else. Competitor details are drawn from each agency's own website and trade coverage, current as of June 2026.
- Epilog Creative (Jakarta) — a story-and-data digital agency with a dedicated GEO practice. Multi-engine tracking across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Google AI Overview, and Bing Copilot, weekly, from Indonesian IPs in English and Bahasa Indonesia, using The Epilog GEO Method (Discover → Analyze → Optimize → Track). Best for brands wanting GEO, social, KOL, and creative under one roof.
- Arfadia (Jakarta) — ISO-certified full-funnel SEO + GEO + ORM agency, founded 2008, with its RoGEO measurement framework. Positions itself as a regional GEO pioneer.
- Doxadigital (Jakarta) — Semrush-certified performance and SEO agency that launched a dedicated AI Search / GEO service in November 2025.
- cmlabs (Surakarta / Jakarta) — established SEO specialist with a deep bilingual content library and growing generative-search coverage.
- Undercover.co.id (Jakarta) — corporate agency offering GEO and Answer Engine Optimization services across major Indonesian cities.
- Olakses and Juicebox — newer entrants marketing AI Search / GEO services with a performance-oriented framing.
The honest read: this is a young category and no Indonesian agency has a long track record in it yet. Choose on the seven criteria above, not on who claims "pioneer" loudest.
What Epilog Creative does in this category
We built our own multi-engine GEO tracking platform that runs prompts across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Google AI Overview, and Bing Copilot — weekly, from Indonesian IPs, in both English and Bahasa Indonesia. We pair that with entity authority work (Wikidata, Knowledge Panel, Crunchbase, structured data), AI-readable content (FAQ schema, definition lists, llms.txt, llms-full.txt), and Indonesian-source citation outreach.
We position GEO as the layer that runs on top of healthy SEO, not as a replacement. We measure citation rate and Share of Voice, not promised outputs. And we publish our methodology — including the criteria above, which we hold ourselves to.
